Below you will find information about scholarships being offered for the Miami University Libraries Copyright Conference. You are welcome to apply for all scholarships you qualify for, but no individual will be awarded more than one scholarship. ALVT/deg farrelly Scholarship to the Miami University Libraries Copyright Conference

This scholarship was founded by Academic Libraries Video Trust (a project of Video Trust: the Advocate for Libraries and Film) and is intended to help individuals working in libraries who have been assigned copyright responsibilities that include film, video or other works involving motion pictures. Participation at the Miami Copyright Conference is intended to expand the recipient’s knowledge of the law. All are welcome to apply. Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of impact and need.

One scholarship will be awarded and will cover registration, and so be administered by the Conference management. The scholarship is named for the late deg farrelly, a video librarian and co-founder of ALVT, who contributed substantially to scholarship in the area of video and film management in libraries.

Please note that:

  • The recipient’s name will be published on the conference website and announced at the conference.
  • This scholarship is not transferable. If the recipient is unable to attend the conference for any reason, they are required to contact the scholarship coordinator, Carla Myers, at myersc2@miamioh.edu.
  • Other costs associated with conference participation, including but not limited to transportation, accommodations, meals, etc. are not included in this award.

Miami University Libraries Diversity and Inclusion Conference Scholarship

In an effort to promote diversity and inclusiveness and to help ensure the broadest possible participation at the 2021 Miami University Libraries Copyright Conference, the Miami University Libraries are sponsoring a scholarship that will be awarded to an individual from a group that is traditionally underrepresented and/or marginalized in the library profession and/or at library conferences. This can include but is not limited to persons of color, LGBTQ individuals, those with a disability, students, individuals from financially disadvantaged backgrounds or institutions, or individuals who work in a library that primarily serves such groups.

One scholarship will be awarded and it will cover the cost of registration and up to two nights stay in Miami University’s on-campus hotel, the Marcum.

Copyright Friends Scholarship

This scholarship was founded by copyright librarians, for copyright librarians and is intended to help individuals working in libraries who have recently been assigned copyright responsibilities expand their knowledge of the law by participating in the 2021 Miami University Libraries Copyright Conference. Ideal applicants will be students, staff, or early to mid-career librarians, though all are welcome to apply. Scholarships are awarded based on a combination of impact and need.

One scholarship will be awarded and it will cover the cost of registration and up to two nights stay in Miami University’s on-campus hotel, the Marcum.
